Bennett Harris Horowitz
FEATURED ARTIST December 2024
Art Gallery 71 invites you to
American Landscapes
a show by artist Bennett Harris Horowitz
December 6 - January 5
Reception: Saturday, Decembeer 7, 4-6pm
December's featured artist, Bennett Harris Horowitz, is exhibiting large, colorful wilderness landscape paintings rendered in a playful style which derives from numerous art traditions, including Expressionism, Fauvism, the Hudson River School, and more.
He earned Fine Arts degrees from the Pratt Institute and the California College of Arts and Crafts, and has been exhibiting for many decades. Horowitz moved to Woodstock from his Queens, NY hometown in 2016.
The paintings on view are based on photo images Horowitz gathered during trips to dramatic visual locations. Sites include the Grand Tetons, Glacier National Park, southern Utah, and Rocky Mountain National Park. All of the canvases were created at his home studio in Woodstock.
Horowitz is especially interested in exploring the pictorial tension between flat geometry and the illusion of space portrayed in his painterly images.
